30 Minute Beach Clean Up:
Advocate Community Service and being “Green” for the next generation! Every third Saturday of every month at 10 a.m., rain or shine. Meet on the beach at 1 Granada Ave. in the Belmont Shore area of Long Beach to help rid the beach of trash and debris. Free parking, bags, gloves, refreshments, door prizes, and volunteer credit forms. Just show up.

Long Beach Municipal Band 2010 Summer Concerts:
Now in its 101st year of continuous service to the citizens of Long Beach, each free concert presents the music of America: Classical and pop favorites, extraordinary jazz, movie music, Broadway show tunes, and Big Band salutes. Bring your blanket or low-profile beach chairs, a delicious summer picnic, the kids, the family pet & friends. Festivities start at 6:30 p.m.

Kids Fishing Rodeo:
57th Annual event courtesy of the Southern California Tuna Club, Fred Hall Fishing Shows and Alfredo’s Beach Club is free to kids 16 an under and includes free bait and instruction.

3rd Annual North vs. South Civil War Re-Enactment:
Come see one of the West Coast’s largest Civil War Battle reenactments at El Dorado Regional Park from 10a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. “The Civil War Remembered” event brings together hundreds of uniformed combatants from North and South to re-create the conflict of the Civil War.

REG’s FREE Family Film Festival:
REG has planned a fun-filled summer of select movies for kids and parents. Regal has proudly offered this free summer fun since 1991. Oh, did we mention that it’s FREE! Selected G or PG movies start at 10:00 am every Tuesday and Wednesday during the festival. Tickets and seating are first-come, first-serve and are limited to theatre capacity.

Summer Drink Suggestions

It’s Hot, so cool off with a cool cocktail! Summer is the perfect time for cocktails. Whether you’re entertaining friends or just relaxing at home with your family, these drinks are a tasty breeze on a hot summer day. Here are some sensational summer drink recipes to sip this season.

Pineapple Martini

Ingredients: 2 oz Vodka, 1/4 cup crushed pineapple with juice, 1/4 oz simple syrup.

Directions: In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine the vodka, pineapple and simple syrup. Shake hard and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a slice of pineapple if you have it.

Strawberry Basil Mojito

Ingredients: 3 fresh strawberries, 3-5 fresh basil leaves, 2 oz. simple syrup, 2 oz. white rum, crushed ice, club soda.

Directions: Slice the strawberries and place at the bottom of a tall glass along with the basil leaves. Pour in the simple syrup and muddle the mixture. Stir in the rum and top with crushed ice. Top off with club soda and garnish with strawberry slices.

Boozy Blondie Milkshake

Ingredients: 2 quarts vanilla ice cream (softened), 1 cup malted milk powder (such as Ovaltine), 2/3 cup scotch.

Directions: Blend the ice cream, malt powder and scotch in a blender until smooth (in batches, if necessary). Divide among chilled glasses.

Non-Alcoholic Passion Colada

Ingredients: 2 cups ice, 1 cup passion fruit juice, 1 cup passion fruit, 1/4 cup cream of coconut.

Directions: Combine ice, passion fruit juice, cream of coconut and rum, if using, in a blender and blend until smooth.

Non-Alcoholic Green Tea & Mango Splash

Ingredients: 1 cup strongly brewed green tea (2 tea bags to 1 cup water), 1 cup strongly brewed green tea, 2 cups mango nectar, Ice cubes, Mint sprigs for garnish, and Mango slivers for garnish.

Directions: Combine tea and mango nectar in a pitcher. Serve over ice, garnished with mint sprigs and mango slivers.

Alfredo’s Beach is proud to bring you for the 6th consecutive year, free Movies on the Beach.  Plenty of FREE parking and FREE Popcorn.  A full BBQ dinner menu as well as snacks will be available for purchase.  Movies on The Beach start at dusk (approx. 8p.m.)
